Dr Don Hettiarachchi attained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, in 2010. He commenced his practice and spent most of his time in Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine in Sri Lanka before joining the Australian health system in 2015. He gained his experience by working in several hospitals and multiple clinical settings, including Royal Darwin Hospital and in Rural Queensland, in the past 8 years. Dr Don was awarded a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) by The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Australia, in 2021. Dr Don also holds a diploma in Child Health, a certificate in Emergency Medicine, and professional and advanced certificates in Skin Cancer Medicine.

Dr Don spent three years working at Royal Darwin Hospital across a wide range of specialities, including Emergency medicine, General medicine, General Surgery, Oncology, Haematology, Geriatrics, and paediatrics. Before moving to Victoria in 2021, he worked as a Senior Medical Officer for Queensland Health for two years.

Dr Don has a special interest in Men’s Health, Women’s Health, children’s Health, Emergency Medicine, Skin Cancer Medicine, and minor Surgical procedures. He takes a keen interest in mental health and chronic health issues.

Outside of work, he enjoys cricket, fitness training, and travelling.

He speaks English and Sinhalese.
