Please be aware that our receptionists cannot provide advice on Bulk Billing for consultations. The decision to Bulk Bill is made solely by the doctor, as receptionists are not equipped to advise on this matter. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to discuss any billing concerns directly with your doctor.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please feel welcome to discuss this with your usual Doctor or our Practice Manager. We appreciate your understanding and continued trust in us.

Children under 6yrs, Health Assessments, Childhood immunisations, DVA card holders are bulk billed. Aged pensioners, Health Care Card holders and children aged 6yrs to 15yrs are charged a reduced fee.

Weekdays (Mon – Fri):

• Standard consultation (<20 mins) $98 ($88 reduced fee)
• Long consultation (>20 mins) $175 ($165 reduced fee)
• Standard telephone consultation $98 ($88 reduced fee)

Saturdays:

• Standard consultation (<20 mins) $108 ($98 reduced fee)
• Long consultation (>20 mins) $185 ($175 reduced fee)

There are additional fees for other procedures performed, and our reception staff can advise you of these costs. Most procedures are claimable through Medicare.

Please note that after-hours fees will apply. 

We pass on transaction fees for card and digital payments: 2.0% for American Express and Diners Club, 1.5% for Visa and Mastercard (credit), and 0.7% for Visa and Mastercard (debit), with no surcharge for EFTPOS or cash payments. We do this in line with the RBA rules.

Home visits are available at the doctor’s discretion to regular patients of this practice.

Your regular doctor will let you know if you are eligible for a home visit and the costs involved.

Gymea Medical Practice operates on an appointment-based system. Urgent appointments will always have priority. Appointments are generally 15 minutes. Please mention to the reception staff if a) you are visiting us for the first time, b) you have multiple issues, or c) you require an insurance or employment medical, as you may need a long appointment.

Appointments are available every day for urgent appointments. If you request to see a doctor urgently and do not have an appointment, you may not be able to see the doctor of your choice, especially if they are heavily booked. Under these circumstances, you will be put in with the next available doctor. You may be seen by a nurse first, so that she can assess your condition.

We suggest you make a follow-up appointment to review the results together with your doctor at least 48hrs after the test. Reception is only able to advise if the results have been received however, they are not able to give you any further information.

Appointment reminders are sent via HotDoc 24-hours prior to your appointment.  We may also send reminders for routine visits such as skin checks, pap smears, health assessments and repeat immunisations.

If you would like to make an appointment for a repeat script or referral, please make a booking online or via phone.

Your medical information is confidential. However, it is normal practice to forward certain medical information such as immunisation history, medical history and medication lists as required and with patient consent to other medical professionals. All information at Gymea Medical Practice is handled according to the present Privacy Act. Should you require further details, please ask for a copy of our brochure “Personal Information, Privacy and Your Doctor” or review our privacy policy.

ALL Telehealth consultations incur a fee. Medicare cardholders who have visited our practice in the last 12 months are eligible for a rebate. Payments are required in advance, either through a secure link by phone or via HotDoc. We’ll handle your Medicare rebate online.

The doctors will conduct telephone consults and these can be booked online. If your doctor indicates during this consult you may require a physical examination at the practice, they will advise on the call and this can be booked online.

When making an appointment, and again on arrival at the practice, please advise reception staff that you or your child might have something contagious. We may direct you to sit in an isolated area for the health and wellbeing of our patients.

Interpreter services are available on request. If you think that you may have difficulty understanding the doctor, please advise the reception staff at least one day prior to your appointment so this can be arranged. If you prefer, a friend or family member may act as the interpreter.

Your personal health information is collected and used directly in association with your health care. Your medical records are kept confidential and our practice maintains the security of medical records in accordance with Australian Privacy Act.

A full copy of our privacy policy can be found on our website or at reception. If you have any concerns about your health information privacy, please let your doctor or the practice manager know.

Patients seeking a copy of their medical records must apply to the practice in writing; please ask reception for the correct form. An admin fee of $30.00 will apply.

Our communications Policy details how and when we receive and return telephone calls and electronic communication.

We will not disturb a doctor during a consultation. We will let the doctor know if a patient has contacted the practice for them and will respond appropriately.

Please note emails are there for administrative purposes. We will not disclose personal information over email and will not use this method to book or cancel appointments.

We may get in touch with you via SMS or email to update you with general information about our practice or health services for your information. Any generic email communication to you is done using only a name and email, for the purposes of these communications, please be advised that no further information is stored.
