Dr Ataullah Shinwarie graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Nangarhar University, Afghanistan, in 1992 and then commenced training in Paediatrics. He worked as a Paediatrician for UNICEF and WHO at a therapeutic feeding centre for malnourished children. He was granted a scholarship and completed an MPH at QUT in Epidemiology and Advanced Epidemiology to pursue a future career in research. Dr Shinwarie passed the Australian Medical Council exams and commenced working as a PHO in mental health at the Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. He worked at the Canberra and Liverpool Hospital Sydney, rotating in various departments. He has completed a DCH from Sydney Children’s Hospital. He has also completed General Practice Training and was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2023.
Dr Ataullah has a special interest in paediatric and children’s health, family health, men’s health, mental health and chronic disease management and does iron infusion and minor skin procedures.
Dr Ataullah is fluent in English, Pashto, Dari, and Persian.
