Sanjay Warrier is a consultant breast surgeon at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and is designated chief surgeon for Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) BreastScreen. He is passionate about patient care, teaching and research. Sanjay undertook extensive post-fellowship training in breast surgery, consolidating surgical techniques in both an oncological and reconstructive setting.
He is an Associate Professor at Sydney University and the Breast Research Lead at the Royal Prince Alfred Institute of Academic Surgery (IAS). Sanjay co-founded the Master’s Degree in Breast Surgery program at the University of Sydney. Sanjay has presented his research at multiple national and international conferences, including the San Antonio Breast Symposium and ASCO. He won the Patron’s Prize at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for the best scientific oral presentation on his work on Hedgehog signalling.
Sanjay is the immediate Past President of BreastSurgANZ, co-chair of Post Fellowship Training, a long-standing member of both the BreastSurgANZ Membership and Oncoplastic Committees, and sits on advisory committees with the NSW Ministry of Health, the Cancer Institute and SLHD Biobanking. He also sits on the Sydney Breast Cancer Foundation committee and the Smith & Nephew Global SSC (Surgical Site Complication) Prevention Council Advisory Board.
