Return to Practice Page

Dr Avory joined the practice in February 2018, having relocated to Sydney in 2013 with her husband’s work. Early 2021 saw her family relocate to QLD, again with her husband’s work. We are thrilled to be welcoming Karen and her family back to Sydney, and back to our practice in July 2023, working full time, Monday to Friday.

Karen completed her undergraduate training in England at the University of Nottingham and GP training in Manchester. In England, she worked as a GP in both Manchester and London and completed further diplomas in women’s health, family planning and paediatrics.

She began working in Australia in Perth WA in 2011 and participated in a further diploma in Women’s health at King Edward Memorial Hospital, as well as a certificate in family planning with the Family Planning Association of Western Australia.

During this time, Dr Avory has had 3 children as well as worked in a few diverse locations as a GP. She is passionate about all aspects of general practice but still enjoys focusing on her interests in women’s health and paediatrics. She also has a keen and developing interest in lifestyle challenges, mental health and chronic disease. She is also experienced in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.

For something different Dr Avory worked with ITV and Granada studios in England for shows such as Coronation Street, I’m a Celebrity and Countdown. In her time outside of work, she is kept busy with her young family and interests in sport and nutrition.
