Dr Lisa Burns

Dr Lisa Burns is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). She obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from Monash University, graduating with honours in 2002. After graduating she worked in various hospitals including the Mercy Hospital where she obtained a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She commenced her general practice experience at the Carlton Clinic with a focus on sexual health and then spent 1 year working in Thailand with Volunteers for International Development Australia working in the area of HIV education. She completed her general practice training and attained a fellowship in 2009.

Lisa has a focus on women’s and children’s health and is passionate about preventative health. She is accredited for shared antenatal care (care during pregnancy) with The Mercy Hospital for Women, Royal Women’s Hospital and the Northern Hospital. She is also able to insert Implanon for contraception. She is an examiner for the RACGP, examining candidates for general practice examinations.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending quality time with her husband and 3 children and as such understands the pressures of being a working parent. She is involved in her local school and church communities.
