Dr MD Anwarul Hoque graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Dhaka University, Bangladesh, in 1981. After his initial training in Bangladesh, Dr Anwarul worked in different capacities of general practice or within the capacity of Medical Officers in Bangladesh, Nigeria and Libya. He then immigrated to New Zealand in 1996, obtained a Diploma in Public Health (DPH) from the University of Otago in 1998 and worked part-time with the Lipid and Diabetes Research Group at Christchurch School of Medicine as a Research Fellow.
He then immigrated to Australia in 2001 and worked in various Hospitals in QLD before moving into General Practice in New South Wales. Since 2012, he has also worked at various First Nations Medical Services in rural and regional Australia. He was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2016.
Dr Anwarul has special interests in chronic disease management, particularly diabetes, lipid disorders, chronic kidney diseases and liver diseases, women’s health and child health. He also carries out minor skin procedures.
Dr Anwarul is proficient in English, Bengali, Hindi and also speaks Arabic.
