Dr Sew Ying Cheong

Dr Cheong is a vocationally qualified and experienced female General Practitioner from Malaysia with a special interests in women & children’s health in general practice. Having graduated from Mangalore University with a MBBS and later internship, she continued another 4 years in the hospital rotation across various disciplines to gain wider experience, including in family medicine as her special interest. Dr Cheong went on to practise as the principal general practitioner for about 20 years. With broad experience in rural and tropical medicine, she has continued to pursue further postgraduate vocational studies under the conjoint Malaysian-Australian RACGP examination, leading to the vocational FRACGP qualification.

Dr Cheong is able to speak in various languages to facilitate communication with patients and carers from various ethnic backgrounds and nationalities, leading to better understanding of the patients’ concerns, demands or requirements.

Dr Cheong speaks English, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka), Malaysian and Indonesian.
