IMPORTANT UPDATE: From October 1, 2022, Dee Why Family Medical Centre will introduce an updated, fully private fee schedule.
Dee Why Family Medical Centre is proud to have supported the health of the Dee Why and Northern Beaches communities for over fifteen years. Our focus is to provide our patients with premium health care, ensuring we deliver the services that most meet your needs. As media reports are presently highlighting, the industry in which we operate is under immense pressure due to poor funding, and medicare rebates have also been reduced considerably in recent years. Dee Why Family Medical Centre is moving to a fully private fee model to continue providing quality patient care. This means there will be charges for face-to-face consultations, Telehealth and video Telehealth appointments. Your consultation will attract a rebate from Medicare if you are an eligible Medicare Card holder and only when applicable.
As General Practitioners, our expertise and the variety of patient concerns we can address means that consultations with each patient vary in nature. The AMA fee structure forms the basis of our billing policy. GPs providing services from Dee Why Family Medical Centre charge fees that reflect the time to support and the degree of complexity in each consultation.
Consultation FEES must be paid in full by credit card, cash or EFTPOS on the day of the appointment.
If you make your booking through the HotDoc platform, you can input your credit card information through a secure method before you arrive at the Practice. Our Reception team can collect payment after your consultation, and you will not be required to wait to settle your account.
If you did not book through HotDoc and have not provided your credit card information by the time you arrive at the Practice, you will need to return to Reception to pay your bill before you leave the Practice.
Bulk Billing is available to the patients who meet the below criteria, provided they have a valid Medicare card:
a) Children 0-5 years of age
b) Childhood immunisations included in the National Immunisation Program
c) Patients attending for Chronic Disease Care Plans and Government-funded health assessments. Unless advised at the time of testing/screening, testing and screening associated with Chronic Disease Care Plans and Government-funded health assessments will be bulk-billed.
d) Your GP has advised you will be bulk billed for the consultation you attend.
Otherwise, all patients (including children 6-16 years of age and Concession Card Holders) will be privately charged.
We can claim your Medicare rebate for you electronically when you pay your account if you have a valid Medicare card.
We are unable to offer private health rebates for GP consultations. To support Private Health rebates, we can supply a tax invoice upon request so that you may submit a claim with your insurance provider following your consultation.
Cancellation Policy / Fee
Patients need to cancel at least 1 hour prior to the appointment. For patients that are no show or under 1hr, a $30 fee will be charged.
