Originally from Sri Lanka, Dr Liyana completed her medical degree there, laying the foundation for her career in medicine. Over the past twelve years, she has honed her skills by working across a range of specialities, including paediatrics, emergency medicine, and general practice. This breadth of experience has equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of different medical fields and a well-rounded approach to patient care.

In 2012, Dr Liyana made the significant decision to migrate to Australia, where she continued to pursue her passion for medicine. Her dedication and commitment to excellence were recognised when she obtained her fellowship in 2018, solidifying her status as a highly skilled and qualified medical professional.

Dr Liyana possesses special interests in paediatrics, women’s health, and mental health. Her genuine care for her patients, combined with her knowledge in these areas, allows her to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to individuals of all ages. Whether it’s addressing the unique needs of children, supporting women’s health concerns, or providing empathetic care for mental health issues, Dr Liyana goes above and beyond to ensure her patients receive the highest quality of care.

Outside of her medical practice, Dr Liyana leads a fulfilling life. She finds solace in the pages of books, cherishes quality time with her family, and explores the wonders of the world through her travels. These personal pursuits help her maintain a well-balanced and empathetic approach to her patients, as she understands the importance of self-care and connection.

An additional asset Dr Liyana brings to our practice is her ability to communicate fluently in both English and Sinhalese. This language proficiency enables her to cater to a diverse range of patients, ensuring effective communication and understanding between herself and those she serves.
